Share the holiday spirit with Home Instead Senior Care’s Be a Santa to a Senior® service program! This program brightens the lives of lonely or financially challenged seniors in our community who are least likely to receive a gift during the holiday season. In the last six years, 60,000 volunteers delivered more than one million gifts to seniors.
How the program works:
Area non-profit agencies will provide the names of lonely or financially challenged seniors in our community, as well as gift ideas for each senior. Be a Santa to a Senior trees bearing gift tags with each senior’s name and gift requests will be on display in the two Frederick Walmart stores off of Rt. 85 and 26 from November 13th to December 7th. Walmart shoppers will pull a gift tag from the tree, purchase the requested gift(s), and return the gift (unwrapped and with tag attached) to the collection box. Additionally, community groups can “adopt” groups of seniors (more info below.)
Ways your organization can participate:
• “Adopt” a group of seniors as a community service project. Your group can donate the items requested on a set of gift tags that HISC will set aside for you.
• Donate a monetary gift that will go toward the purchase of gifts not donated.
