(LUCKETTS, VIRGNINA) The Lucketts Bluegrass Concert Series resumes at the newly renovated Lucketts Community Center on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7 PM featuring Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper. Tickets are $15 at the door, show time is 7:00 PM, doors open at 6:00 PM. Lucketts famous hot dogs, barbeque sandwiches, other snacks and drinks will be available at the kitchen.
Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper~ Rounder Recording artist and fiddler extraordinaire, Michael Cleveland, brings dynamic traditional bluegrass to the Lucketts stage with his four-time, award-winning band, Flamekeeper. They present a program of tight vocal duos and trios, blistering instrumentals, and fiddle-and-banjo duets that echo the first-generation stars of bluegrass. Since his Grand Ole Opry debut as a child in 1993, Mike’s career took off, being named winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association's “Fiddle Performer of the Year” award nine times. His list of guest appearances reads like a “who's who” of bluegrass legends that includes Bill Monroe, Jim and Jesse, Ralph Stanley, Vince Gill, Marty Stuart, and many others. He has recorded two award winning solo albums as well as another so-honored-collaboration with Tom Adams. Michael and Flamekeeper’s two most recent releases Rounder Records are “Leavin’ Town,” and their latest, “Fired UP.” The Flamekeeper band boasts Joshua Richardson guitar, Nathan Livers on Mandolin, Glenn Gibson on Banjo and Tyler Griffith on bass. The Lucketts Bluegrass Series is one of the longest running, continuously scheduled bluegrass series in the United States, and is sponsored by the non-profit Lucketts Bluegrass Foundation, the Loudoun Country Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. The concert series is run by volunteers. Most of the ticket revenues are paid directly to the bands to promote and preserve this original American art-form. Proceeds support the continuation of the concert series and are invested back into the historic building and other community center programs.
